An advert celebrating the Scottish Thistle Awards was viewed by almost 1 million Scots adults when it aired on STV in July.

The 30-second advert, which featured recent winners from Scotland’s premier tourism and events awards, aired over an 11-day period on STV at the start of July. A total of 985,000 Scots adults saw the advert at least once during this period, and on average, those who saw the advert saw it 2.9 times.

It aired during top shows, such as Coronation Street, This Morning and The Chase. 

The advert featured footage and interviews with recent winners from the National Final of the Scottish Thistle Award, with a focus on best practice in responsible tourism in Scotland. 

The businesses featured were:

• Glenmorangie House, Tain (Winner of the Best Luxury Experience Award)
  
• WeeCOOK Kitchen, Carnoustie (Winner of the Best Eatery Experience Award)
• Wild Discovery, Aberdeenshire (Winner of the Best Outdoor Adventure Experience Award)

The Scottish Thistle Awards, with headline sponsors Johnstons of Elgin, celebrate the very best of the tourism and events industry, which is worth £11.5 billion to the Scottish economy.     

We deliver the Scottish Thistle Awards in partnership with regional awards programmes. They combine five regional awards, with a national final.     

After a two year break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they returned with a bang last year, culminating in the crowning of 17 winners at the National Final in February 2023. This year, they also include a media partnership with News Scotland. 

We recently announced the shortlist for the 2023 regional finals, which take place next month.
