Gordon Deans led the Orkney2025 Organising Committee through 8 years of planning to successfully deliver the 20th International Island Games in Orkney in July 2025. Gordon stepped into this voluntary role in 2017 following his retirement from the position of Police Area Commander in Orkney. During his 30-year career, spanning the length and breadth of the UK, Gordon was involved at both tactical and strategic levels, in the planning and delivery of Policing and security to  a number of major and large scale events including the G8 Summit, Tall Ships, Olympic Torch Relay, Commonwealth Games Baton Relay and the Centenary Commemoration of the Battle of Jutland. 

Gordon, along with his wife Sandra, both native ‘Orcadians’, also own and operate successful Tour businesses in Orkney.
