Claire Miller, Event and Public Space Operations, The City of Edinburgh Council

Claire is Senior Manager for Event and Public Space Operations for City of Edinburgh Council, leading on strategy, partnerships and the successful facilitation of all events that take place within Edinburgh of which there are approximately 700 every year.

Prior to taking up a position at the Council, Claire worked on a number of events including being a High Street steward for the world-famous fringe street events and engagement officer for NVA’s Speed of Light as part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Her love of events and creating meaningful and memorable experiences for people carries through to her role now where she plays a vital role in bringing together the right people and agencies to make sure the many competing demands of a busy and vibrant city such as Edinburgh are balanced as much as possible.

She is often the Council’s tactical (silver) lead for major events which have included Operation Unicorn, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, concerts at Murrayfield and many others. She is a frequent champion of the #TeamEdinburgh approach, is a self-confessed “HVM enthusiast” but more importantly she is a proud supporter of the events sector and works hard to maintain Edinburgh’s reputation as a festival and events city.

More recently, Claire was invited to join the Practitioner Board of the Centre for Events & Festivals where she hopes to help deliver positive change within the UK and further afield.
