Claire Dow, Principal Events Officer, Dundee City Council

Claire is Principal Events Officer for Dundee City Council, leading a team to develop the scale and scope of public events in the city and developing strategy and partnerships to facilitate the use of Dundee’s parks and public spaces for events.

Her favourite events combine participation, collective encounters and fun in the belief that shared experiences bring people together to create communities and connection.

Previous roles include Culture Strategy Lead Officer, creating the city’s culture strategy, Dundee: A Creative City 2024-2034; Service Manager for the Caird Hall Dundee; Creative Scotland’s Clore Fellow 2014-15; Associate Producer Dundee Rep Theatre, arts management roles with Stellar Quines, Imaginate and Playwrights’ Studio Scotland; and stage and site management for 7:84 Theatre Company, The Traverse Theatre, Riverdance, Pantomimes at Kings Theatre (Glasgow) and Festivals and outdoor events in Edinburgh, Dublin and Galway. 

Consultancy work includes Creative Scotland's Artistic and Creative Review Framework and the British Council Scotland's Momentum programme 2015 and co-author of Creative Scotland’s Review of Touring Theatre and Dance 2017.

She is currently a Board Member of the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh and a member of the Events Industry Advisory Group (EIAG) to Scottish Government, and previously served on the boards of ONFife, Creative Dundee and SmallPetitKlein dance company.
