With over 25 years’ experience in delivering high-profile, large-scale events across Scotland, Al has been involved in the creation, delivery, and promotion of some of the country’s largest cultural events and celebrations, including the world-famous Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Festival, which for over three-decades has positioned Edinburgh and Scotland at the heart of world New Year celebrations. As co-Festival Director of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, Al oversees the creative programme, marketing, and media activity, generating global broadcast coverage of the Midnight Fireworks from Edinburgh Castle to approx. 200 countries world-wide through major broadcast networks, showcasing Scottish culture and heritage to the world. Combined with Edinburgh’s Christmas, the capital’s Winter Festivals 2025/26 events programme welcomed over 3M visitors into the city centre attractions, welcoming visitors from over 130 countries and generating over £195M for the economy.
