The Scottish Thistle Awards are awards for the industry, judged by the industry. A number of independent industry experts make up our judging panel, each with specific knowledge relating to different sectors of industry.

Our judges review and independently score each entry before coming together to discuss the entries in more detail. Through a combination of the paper entry, business verification process, judges’ knowledge/personal experiences and site visits/interviews where appropriate, our judges complete the challenging task of agreeing a shortlist and winner for each region against criteria specific to the category. 

Scottish Thistle Awards judges are recruited based on their experience within the tourism industry and knowledge of Scotland’s unique offerings across a number of sectors. We strive to achieve a good regional spread and sector representation across the judging panel.
