What is your approach to taking climate action within your business?  What actions have you implemented, and how do you deliver your action? How do you measure and record success?  

To be eligible for the award, you should provide clear evidence of your activities and the outcome. Climate Action should be ongoing, with a particular focus on what you have recently done within the period from 1st May 2024 – 31st March 2025. Please cover any areas you think are relevant. Below is a guide on some aspects you may wish to include when writing your response    

• Your climate action plans and strategy for your business.  
• Your sustainability and climate related actions and activities.   
• Your steps to save energy - be more energy efficient, low carbon heat sources, renewable energy sources.   
• Travel and Transport -, public transport, active travel (walking and cycling). Do you have staff incentives in place or low carbon/EV vehicles?   
• Ethical Food and drink choices - Food waste reduction, increased plant-based options, local and seasonal produce and suppliers.    
• Waste-reduction, efficient resource use, combating single-use plastics.    
• Nature-based solutions - tree planting, peatland conservation, biodiversity projects, green infrastructure.    
• Influencing behaviour change (staff and customers) 

Climate action can take many forms. But with Scottish net zero targets of 0 emissions by 2045, we all have a part to play. Everyone is at a different stage; please demonstrate what you have done to address your carbon emissions by measuring, learning, reducing, or planning to do this as part of your climate action plans. It’s essential to demonstrate low or zero-carbon choices and behaviours or at least be shown to consider this.

Climate Action should be ongoing, so feel free to provide details of relevant plans or actions if they are part of your roadmap.    

• Your journey and plans towards understanding your emissions and what they are in your business.  
• What tools or mechanisms are you using to learn to measure or have someone else do it for you, such as a consultant, training course, or carbon calculator?    
• Have you set any targets for carbon reduction, such as a roadmap or a plan to achieve them? Please explain how you will implement this.    
• Where you have already measured your emissions, what actions were linked to these (see question 1 for links)?   
• Where you have not yet measured your emissions, what actions do you feel will be linked to them, and what steps will you take to understand those, providing evidence or a plan to do this?   
• How do you categorise your emissions sources?  What were the key sources of emissions that you identified?   

We are interested in how you communicate and collaborate to support implementing and delivering your climate actions. Your plan and work to help inform and inspire others in your community, staff, supply chain or visitors.  

You should provide clear evidence of activity and the outcome from 1st May 2024 to 31st March 2025. cover any areas you think are relevant. Below are some aspects you may wish to include:    

• If applicable, how have you engaged with your team (staff) on your climate action plan and or roadmap for taking climate action? What training/development have you provided for your team to support their awareness and the implementation of actions?   
• Externally, how have you engaged your customers or visitors in your climate action journey to raise awareness and encourage climate action? What feedback have you had from your customers?    
• How have you engaged with your supply chain to raise awareness of your climate action plan, work together on implementation, and support action in your suppliers?    
• If applicable, do you report your climate actions in a report, on your webpages, or in an external organization? If so, who and where?  
• Have you received a green certification, and what are you doing to promote and raise awareness of this?   
• Do you report and showcase your work on your website or social media so others can see, understand, read, learn and access it?   
• Creative partnerships or innovative ways of working with businesses in your sector or destination, other stakeholders, organisations, or your local community to share your learnings from your climate action journey and encourage collaboration and capacity building to drive forward climate action. We want to know what makes you stand out and what makes you innovative, as defined by you.
