Breakout session: Scotland The Perfect Stage - Strategy Deep Dive

Ian Barr works as Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Principal Events Officer. In this role Ian has researched and delivered consecutive Events Strategies for the region, and worked in partnership with many major events organisations including the Tour of Britain, Ice Hockey UK, Wigtown Festival Company and many more. 

There have been many policy innovations within Dumfries and Galloway’s events strategies over the years, including the unique ‘Advancement programme’ to identify new Signature events for Dumfries and Galloway, and the preparation of Scotland’s first Greener Events Toolkit. In 2023 Ian established Toe Poke CIC, a social enterprise trading in clothes for fans of Scotland’s national football teams.
