Key Sector Manager - Creative Industries, Skills Development Scotland

Breakout session: Developing the Events Workforce

David was appointed as the Sector Manager for the Creative Industries at Skills Development Scotland in 2013. He is responsible for the development of the Scottish Government’s Skills Investment Plan for the Creative Industries (2015),  the SDS/SG National Transition Training Fund Supporting the Creative Industries Freelance Workforce Programme (2022), lead partner for the Scottish Government’s Creative Digital Initiative (2021/22) and co-commissioned studies on the Scottish Film and TV Workforce (2019), the Scottish Textiles Skills Partnership (2017-2020), Foundational Economy (2022) and Fair Work Practices (2021).  He has worked on skills development related themes for many years across the Third, National Policy and Film and Television sectors. A few of the events that have influenced and shaped his outlook include the International Theatres programme at Glasgow 1990, David Bowie at Murrayfield, Pina Bausch Dance Company at EIFF, Prince at Hampden & the Hydro and everything at Glasgow Tramway.
