Culture Strategy Lead Officer, Dundee City Council

Plenary session: Panel Discussion - The Event Industry Advisory Group

Claire Dow is on temporary secondment to Leisure and Culture Dundee as the Culture Strategy Lead Officer, supporting the cultural sector of the city and developing a new Culture Strategy. 

Meanwhile as Principal Events Officer for Dundee City Council she lead the events team in City Development, attracting events to the city including summer concerts in Slessor Gardens, the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships and Radio 1’s Big Weekend in 2023. The team also deliver council led events including Christmas in City Square and the award nominated Dundee Summer (Bash) Streets Festival. 

She chaired Dundee’s event Safety Advisory Group and the Festivals and Events Coordinating Group, and currently sits on the Event Industry Advisory Group. 

Previously Claire worked in live performance as a creative producer and consultant, delivering large scale art projects, theatre tours and co-authoring the Review of Touring Theatre and Dance for Creative Scotland in 2017. She is a Clore Fellow, part of the 2014/15 cohort. 

She is a previous director and Chair of Creative Dundee and is currently a trustee of the Royal Lyceum Theatre, and of On Fife.
