Plenary session: Panel Discussion - The Event Industry Advisory Group

Alan Laidlaw is Chief Executive of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) – the registered charity behind the Royal Highland Show with a remit to promote and protect the interests of rural Scotland.   

Based at the Society’s headquarters at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, Alan finds himself responsible for the safe delivery of Scotland’s largest outdoor event, The Royal Highland Show which attracted around 190,000 visitors annually and running Highland Centre Limited welcoming hundreds of events of all types and sizes to Edinburgh, generating over £250M to the economy per annum. The charitable work of RHASS reaches far beyond the show and their Education Trust and has a significant impact across the whole of Scotland.  

In his spare time Alan enjoys live events, rugby and exploring Scotland’s Capital and its countryside from his East Lothian home.
